Labelling cold wallets before the first count
How to name envelopes and devices so a portfolio snapshot ledger stays readable a year later.
A ledger is only as clear as the names on its rows. Before you book an offline wallet tracker session, decide what each cold device or paper backup will be called in writing — and write that name on the physical object.
Prefer dull, unique labels: “Blue Ledger Nano — household,” “Steel plate A — travel spare,” rather than “Main” and “Backup,” which invite confusion when a third envelope appears. Avoid labels that encode seed material or PINs.
